Is Princess Connect! Re: Dive A Good Gacha Game?

Is Princess Connect Re: Dive a good gacha game? If players like a more lighthearted and casual experience to get into, then Princess Connect should definitely be something that these players should try. The story, animations, and graphics in the game all work together to create a very bubbly gacha experience. The game is also quite generous, allowing players to collect resources easily and try for the characters they want much more often than a typical gacha game would.

Princess Connect, Priconne for short, is a game with an entertaining premise, and it doesn’t take itself too seriously. It’s not particularly difficult or complex, but it’s a fun RPG game to spend time on, especially if you like the art style and collect the cute waifus abundant in the game.

Waifus, waifus everywhere.

Developed by the huge Cygames (which also created the epic gacha known as Granblue Fantasy, which is a gacha that we at Gachafix also gave our super in-depth and scientific analysis – click to read more) and published by Crunchyroll – the game sure has the backing of some big names in the gacha and anime industry.

Is Princess Connect! Re: Dive a Good Fit For You?

Princess Connect is a story-driven anime-styled RPG. That means it’s going to be fairly predictable in how it plays. It’s definitely more hands-off to allow players to enjoy the characters and animations.

The characters will automatically do their basic abilities. Players can either choose to have the game auto-use skills or manually click on the character’s profile to use their skills (when the blue bar fills up). It’s a simple game – but darn is it cute to watch.

Most active skills will trigger short animations associated with them (ala Epic Seven), which are well animated and have incredibly seamless transitions. The production values in Princess Connect Re: Dive are off the charts.

What Makes Princess Connect! Re: Dive a Good Game For Some Players?

Pros of Princess Connect! Re: Dive:

  • Princess Connect is heavily story focused and has a lot of cute, memorable, moments – especially since almost everything is voiced. Players that like story content to get more invested in their games will enjoy Princess Connect.
  • The game even has fully animated cutscenes for the bigger story events and moments!
  • Like typical Cygames fashion, Princess Connect! Re: Dive is very generous. There are multiple ways to collect premium currencies, and the rates for the highest rarity units sit at 2.5%, which is a bit higher than the average gacha game. For example, Epic Seven has a rate of 1%.
  • The Arena PVP matching system is very intuitive as players are always going to be matched with similar aged accounts. As such, Veteran players are never going to be matched up with just made accounts.
  • The game has many collaborations that bring variety to the game’s character roster and ingame events. Past collaborations include Hololive, Re: Zero, and Idolmaster.
  • There’s nothing too overwhelming in the game as account progression is quite simple. The game is streamlined in a way that’s easy to know what to do next for your characters.
  • Very rarely will y ou have to go out of your way to look something up on Google. This is the complete opposite of Cygame’s flagship gacha game, Granblue Fantasy, almost requires players to look up guides.
  • The game is more about team-building and resource management than skill-based combat, which is great for more casual players.

What Makes Princess Connect! Re: Dive a Not Such a Good Game For Some Players?

Cons of Princess Connect! Re: Dive:

  • Princess Connect! Re: Dive has a pity of 300 pulls to be guaranteed a featured unit which is quite high, but the game offsets this point a bit by the amount of premium currency it gives out.
  • Playres might not like the more casual style combat. It’s more watching than it is being actively involved. Even the PVP battles are 100% automatic.
  • Depending on what kind of player you are, there are no husbandos. The only male character in the Princess Connect! Re: Dive is you, the protagonist Yuuki.
  • The rate-up banners are not great in Princess Connect! Re: Dive. The game will often give you off banner characters. This is because the rate up character has a 0.7% chance of appearing. Therefore, if you hit the 2.5% chance of getting a rare unit, there is only a 28% chance that it will be the rate-up character.
  • Chibi-styled sprites. While it fits well in the game, some players might not be too fond of the aesthetic.

There’s no inventory management. Getting and upgrading gear is as easy as pressing a couple of buttons and going to the stage to collect the materials.

Is Princess Connect! Re: Dive Free-to-Play Friendly?

Princess Connect! Re: Dive is very free to play friendly. Not only are the rewards generous, but the game frequently also gives out resources quite often. Therefore, there never feels like there’s a lack of anything in Princess Connect. The stamina system is also quite generous as it allows many ways for free-to-play players to keep playing.

The game also allows players to recruit and farm permanent characters. Therefore, the gacha isn’t the only method of obtaining new characters in Princess Connect.

The PvP is a big source of premium currency. However, it’s not as frustrating as other gachas to rank up and climb since the game puts you in a “shard” with other similar-aged accounts/people that started around the same time as you.

One feature that makes Princess Connect! Re: Dive a great gacha: all the dupes you obtain in the game become tokens (Memory Shards) that allow players to choose which character to uncap (raise their star levels). Therefore, getting a dupe in the game is actually quite useful as the tokens you obtain can be used for any character. It’s generally recommended that players use these Memory Shards on limited character banners like those seen below.

Seasonal events will typically include seasonal limited characters.

Like with all gacha games with limited characters, it’s always a good idea to save resources to raise these characters first if you obtain them.

What is the Endgame in Princess Connect! Re: Dive?

As players finish off the one-off challenges and main story content of the game, what is left to do? At end-game Princess Connect! Re: Dive players will do one of three things:

  • Maxing out character bond and watching all the scenes associated with them.
  • Some players might try their hand at climbing the arena since the sharding system is quite fair in terms of matchmaking. The higher the rankings, the higher premium currency income that the player receives – which of course, leads to more pulls or stamina refreshes.
  • Clan battles – in summary, players bring in 3 teams every day to challenge a boss. There’s a maximum of 3 attempts per day. Depending on the damage players do to the boss, players will receive the corresponding rewards. All clans’ total damage to bosses will be recorded and ranked. The main thing to do clan battles is for the rewards (obtaining shards to max out certain characters specifically).

Clan Battles is when you put all that grinding to work to do as much damage as possible to the boss.

Princess Connect! Re: Dive Verdict

Princess Connect is a gacha that players might want to play when they kick back and don’t want to think too much. It’s an experience that’s a bit like drinking a milkshake -incredibly colorful and sweet, and even though it might have a lot of toppings, it can sometimes feel very one-note.

However, that’s not entirely a bad thing, sometimes having something simple and sweet to hop into is exactly what players some players are looking for. For players who want to get into Princess Connect, I recommend reading the guide done by some great people in the community here: Princess Connect EN Units/Skills/Guides.
